Uh Oh, Fish!

by Gracie

I do not think that this photo proves anything.  Just because the aquarium used to be on top of the counter right next to where I am standing does not mean that I caused the fishes' big fall.  It was gravity.  And, doesn't the fact that my mother paused to take a picture before saving my little fishies' lives make her an accomplice or something?

6 months!

by Allison

I'm half a year old already!  Here are the stats:

Chub: 17 pounds & 10 ounces (75%)
Length:  26 inches (60%)
Noggin: 43.5 cm (75%)

I am pretty cheerful and very alert most of the time.  I am constantly watching my sister & dad for future fun plans, and I get suddenly cranky
when my mom leaves my line of sight.  She may not be as entertaining as the rest, but the keeper of the food & diapers must stay nearby.  I've got some nice fluffy hair, and no teeth.  The doc said he didn't see any teeth coming through yet either.  I love to eat, but I must agree with Gracie about peas.  I'll eat them, but I make a disgusted face the entire time.  I can sit up by myself for a few seconds, but I prefer to stand.  I have become quite a good jumper in my bouncy chair.  I am ready to get moving!  I am not much for sitting and snuggling lately.  I squirm and try to stand and flip and twist.  I LOVE to look at people upside-down and sideways.

In my free time, I enjoy playing "flying baby" with my dad, growling, and tasting my toys.  My sister helps me out with my toys.  She brings me each toy one at a time, tells me what they are called (I'm learning Gracienese!), and piles them up where I can reach them.  She's so helpful.  She also helps me try on her sunglasses.  Oh the fun she and I are going to have when I start walking!

Pastimes

by Gracie

What's been keeping me busy?
  • FISH.  I got my own aquarium, which I helped set-up, and picked out my own fish.  I have 2 goldfish and 1 "whitefish".  I would like to feed them at least 10 times per day, but my parents will only let me feed them twice.
  • COOKING.  Only if it involves power tools.  I  love to turn on the mixer for my mom.  I also add ingredients.  We made banana bread this week.
  • BIG SISTER-ING.  Allie keeps me busy, and she is getting to be more fun.  I like to read to her, show her toys, make her laugh at mealtimes, help her jump & dance, and give her rides in her bouncer and swing.  (Also, notice my giant big girl bed?  I love that there is room for all my animals and baby dolls.)

  • SINGING & DANCING.  I do a lot singing and dancing with my favorite Laurie Berkner DVD.   But I also have a very special song & dance.  This is rather personal, so there will be no photo involved.  I sing the "Peepee in the Potty" song and do a little dance, after I do so.  The potty has really been my main project lately, and it's going really well.  That's all you need to know about it.
  • CREATING FINE ART.  I have completed my first session of art classes.  I enjoyed it tremendously.  The classroom was inside a train car at the Roundhouse Museum, and we did different projects every week, as well as having storytime and playing with trains.  I'm going to miss my Friday mornings there.  Here is my final project, which will be part of the permanent collection at the museum.

Visiting the Street

by Gracie

On our way up to Vermont, I stopped at Sesame Street to visit some of my old friends.  Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird, Oscar, Grover... they were all there.  It was great to see them all.   They seemed glad to see me too.  There were parades and shows going on throughout the day.  Every time I saw one of my friends from the street, they waved happily.

There were all kinds of thrilling rides around the neighborhood.  I rode spinning rides, bouncing rides, and flying rides.  Nope, I was not scared at all.  I think that my mom was scared.  She claimed that she was not scared to ride, but that she was scared for me to ride.  Likely excuse for her to stay off the rides with Allison most of the time.  I heard that when she was little, she was scared to go on the tiny kiddie ferris wheel, and her much younger cousin had to hold her hand and drag her onto the ride!!  Once again, thank goodness that my fearless dad makes sure that maximum fun levels are achieved.

Here we are, ready to go.  Now look waaaaay up there.  See the bottoms of my shoes!?  This ride was the best.  It took us way up high, and the dropped us, and we bounced bounced bounced.  I laughed so hard.

This one was a hot air balloon ride.  There were lots more rides too, and I loved every one of them.  By the end of the day, I was exhausted.  Allison did get to ride one ride too.  She rode the carousel on a bench with Mom.  I think she liked it a lot, even though she didn't even get to sit on a horse.  There are times that I am thankful that I'm not a baby anymore!
Bye 'mo!
